Fairfax Road Bloomington, IN 47401 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 9th ANNUAL SOUTH CENTRAL BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION TRADE COUNCIL NIGHT AT BLOOMINGTON SPEEDWAY THIS FRIDAY AUGUST 7th Bloomington, IN - August 3, 2009- For the ninth year in a row, the fine folks from the South Central Building and Construction Trade Council will be on hand for racing action at the Bloomington Speedway. The shelter house will surely be filled to capacity, as the members of the Council show up en masse to witness the brand of action the Safety Kleen Sprint Cars, O'Neal Wood Products UMP Modifieds, and the Tire and Wheel Center UMP Super Stocks put on every Friday night. After a week off, you can be sure that the weekly competitors of the Bloomington Speedway will be eager and ready to hit the red clay, and continue battling for their respective championships. Along with the Safety Kleen Sprint Cars and O'Neal Wood Products UMP Modifieds, the Tire and Wheel Center UMP Super Stocks will be running as part of the Battle of the Super Stocks (BOSS) Series. Lee Hobbs of Mitchell, Indiana took home the victory back on June 5th, the last time the BOSS Series was at the Bloomington Speedway. In previous action at Bloomington Speedway on July 24th, Brady Short captured a thrilling Safety Kleen Sprint Car victory over Casey Shuman. The 25 lap main event featured five lead changes between three drivers, with the lead changing three times in the final three laps. Short managed to get around Shuman on the final corner, with a picture perfect slide job to pick up his fifth victory on the season. Shuman, Dakota Jackson, Jon Sciscoe, and Kenny Niflis rounded out the top five. In the $1,000 to win O'Neal Wood Products UMP Modified main event, Shelby Miles led from flag to flag to capture his second win of the season in two tries at Bloomington Speedway. Completing the top five were Ryan Thomas, Clint DeMoss, Kent Robinson, and Chris Moore. Steve Peeden of Martinsville, Indiana took his third Tire and Wheel Center UMP Super Stock feature of the season, taking advantage of Lee Hobb's misfortunes. Hobbs suffered a flat tire midway through the race, handing the lead over to Peeden. Rounding out the top five were Brad Cummings, Greg Amick, Gerald Todd, and Kevin Arthur. The point’s battles in all three divisions remain close and intense. In the Safety Kleen Sprint Car division, Brady Short currently holds a 37 point advantage over Jeff Bland, Jr. coming into this weekend’s event. Ethan Barrow, Ty Deckard, and Kenny Niflis complete the top five. In the O'Neal Wood Products UMP Modified division, Kent Robinson maintains his points lead by 21 points over Clint DeMoss. Josh Eads is 30 points back in third, with John DeMoss 51 points behind in fourth. Matt Bex rounds out the top five, sitting 141 points behind Robinson. The closest point’s race continues to be in the Tire and Wheel Center UMP Super Stock division. Five points separates Brad Cummings and Clayton Perry, with Cummings being the leader. Troy Clark sits third, only 18 points behind them. Lee Hobbs and Jack Frye are fourth and fifth, 43 and 46 points behind respectively. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m., Grandstands 5:30 p.m., Hot laps at 6:30 p.m., Racing at 7:30 p.m. Kids 12 and under FREE general admission with paying adult. Grandstand admission $12, Pit admission $25.
