Bacon cooks for Parts Plus USCS “Topless Thunder ” win at Riverside West Memphis, AR - July 9, 2009 - Nineteen year-old Brady Bacon from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma blasted from outside the front row past defending series Champion Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee into the lead on lap one and never looked back in route to victory lane on Thursday night to capture the win in the historic first-ever Parts Plus United Sprint Car Series Wingless 360 feature race at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas. After cautions for a lap two multi-car melee exiting turn two, that took out the cars of Jeff Swindell from Bartlett, Tennessee and Wade Human from Marion, Arkansas and for a spin on lap three by Tyler Carter from Marion, Arkansas Bacon was on the point while the battle behind him for a place in the top five positions was providing plenty of action. On lap four, Daniel Turbeville from Millington, Tennessee took a scary tumble down the front stretch that ended in turn one bringing out the red flag. After the lap four re-start, Bacon led as Ernie Ainsworth from Bartlett, Tennessee raced in the runner-up spot with Gray in third place, Brad Bowden from Hernando, Mississippi in fourth and rookie point’s leader Justin Carver from Drummonds, Tennessee in the top five on lap five. On lap six Gray got back past Ainsworth for the second position. On lap-eight Brad Bowden charged into the third position behind Bacon and Gray and appeared headed forward. On lap-nine while entered turn three Bowden slung the car sideways just s another car hit his rear bumper spinning him and collecting Justin Carver. Both drivers went to the pits with too much damage to continue. From that point on the race continued caution-free with Bacon charging away from the field. Gray, Ainsworth, Wade Oliver from Southaven, Mississippi and rookie Dalton Davis from Munford, Tennessee chased the streaking Oklahoma teenager to no avail. At the finish line it was Gray in the runner-up pot and Ainsworth crossing in third place with Dalton Davis who started eleventh finished in the fourth position. Zack Pringle from Benton, Arkansas who started way back seventeenth position, charged past Oliver on the last lap to grab the final top five position. Oliver who was making his first race run without the 25 square foot top wing, started eighth. Oliver really put on a show the entire 25-laps while running the top of the race track against the wall looking for an advantage. Oliver led the next group of finishers in sixth position. Kent Buckley from Farmington, Missouri who was also making his first wingless run, followed in the seventh position. Past USCS Champion and three time track Champion, Marshall Skinner from west Memphis, Arkansas finished eighth followed by sprint car rookie Jerod Roller from Hernando, Mississippi. Young gun Troy Dow from Munford, Tennessee rounded out the top ten finishers. The 2008 Parts Plus USCS Rookie of the Year, Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett, Tennessee kicked off the evening with a hard fought win in the six cars, six laps Parts Plus Power Dash. Brady Bacon won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. Current Parts Plus USCS National point’s leader, Wade Oliver charged to the win in the Butlerbuilt Second Heat. Terry Gray raced to victory lane in the 8-lap Bar’s Leaks Third Heat. Marshall Skinner won the Lunati Fourth and Final Heat Race. The K&N Filters Pole Award honors went to Terry Gray after high passing point leader Justin Carver drew a four in the K&N Filters inversion draw and placed Gray on the K&N Pole Position for the start of the main event. Brady Bacon garnered the Hoosier Tire Young Gun of the Race. The R.E. Technologies Rookie of the Race honors went to Dalton Davis for his efforts. Zack Pringle garnered the Lunati “Crank It Up” Award for his charge past twelve cars from seventeenth starting position into fifth place at the finish of the main event.
