Most of you probably know already, but I just found out that the Anderson 400 midget race won't happen on July 25. It has been replaced with a 200 lap USAC National Midget race. They said that it was announced a month or so ago but I guess I overlooked it. I was hoping that the Anderson 400 could become a cornerstone event for the speedway. I attended last years program and enjoyed it. It will be interesting to see how this program is received by car owners and drivers. I know that many had concerns last year about motor issues and with this now being a USAC national event, the car count should be better.

This is probably why I have not got any ticket info. I thought I read where it was going to be 2, 200 lap races instead of one 400 lapper. This info must be wrong also.

I like you enjoyed last years race, even with a small car count there was 6 or 7 cars putting on a pretty good show.

I think where they messed up is with the mandatory pit stops. If it had been run like the Lil' 500 it would have been a more exciting show.

I wasn't at the 400 last year. I've been to the Little 500 several times. The Little 500 has mandatory pit stops. Was the 400 any different from the Little 500 as far as pit stops go?

The race wil be 200 laps and will be a USAC national points paying event.

Although it wasn't what I was expecting up until I found out the day before how many cars showed up, I have to agree that it was interesting. I was looking forward to the next 400 but will come for the 200. The difference in pit stops is that at the Little 500 you pit whenever you want to, within certain restrictions. At the 400, they stopped the race at, if memory serves me correctly, laps 200 and 300 for pit stops. This gives the 500 more room for strategy (and luck, either good or bad) than the 400 had.

All in all, it was an enjoyable night. And Anderson certainly knows how to make it an occasion, an event, with the mandatory drivers autograph session and the other festivities. Well worth while.

I understand now. They red flagged or stopped the midget race for pit stops but not for the Little 500. The Little 5 guys just have to do one stop before and one after lap 250 as the race progresses. I guess the thought was the midget guys wouldn't have to invest in refueling rigs that way.

I plan on being at the Anderson midget 200 next month but unfortunately that's not written in stone for me.
