I have never been to Twin Cities. Have interest in going to the rescheduled USAC Midgets event there on Tuesday, July 14. For a first timer, how is the track. Will it draw a good car count?

Thanks for any information!

NORTH VERNON MIDGET/FOCUS “DOUBLEHEADER” MOVED TO JULY 14

The USAC Mopar National Midget and Midwest Ford Focus Midget “doubleheader” at Twin Cities Raceway Park in North Vernon, Ind. has been rescheduled for Tuesday night, July 14. The event, which was originally rained out June 11 and slated for August 14, will now fall between segments of this year’s “Indiana Sprint Week,” which runs from July 10-18.

“We felt that the new July 14 date would be more conducive to attracting teams and fans,” said USAC Competition Director Jason McCord. “The July 14 date will augment an already-popular nine-night period which features some of the most intense dirt-track racing on the USAC calendar.”

“Indiana Sprint Week” opens July 10 at Lawrenceburg and continues July 11 at Gas City and July 12 at Kokomo, then resumes July 15 at Terre Haute, July 16 at Boswell, July 17 at Bloomington and July 18 at Haubstadt.

The races at the 3/8-mile dirt Twin Cities Raceway Park are the first there since Mat Neely’s 2006 “Indiana Sprint Week” victory.

Do they allow camping at the track? Doing 4 races that week and would be great to add another one!

Of course, I just bought my plane tickets for the 2nd weekend of SprintWeek today. Had I known about this 6 hours ago, I would have flown a day earlier.

Been several years since I've been there due to Dave Allison, but I've gone there many times going back to the mid 90's & have only seen sprintcars there, not midgets. The actual physical facility is nothing special, but the racing on the other hand has been outstanding. I saw a sprintcar race there in May of 1999 that still ranks as the best night of racing I've seen in my entire life of going to watch racing. Every heat, the consi & feature were barnburners with multiple, multiple lead changes and photo finishes. Never saw a night of such intense side by side racing in every race run that evening. Just crazy stuff!

Plus they have a killer Pork Chop Sandwich. At least they used to.

It's a shame the sprintcars aren't on the card also, but I'm sure you'll still enjoy the races that evening.

Been there just once the Sprint Week opener in 06. Awesome race that night. Track really came in as night time fell. I'm sure the midgets will put on a good race there.

Went to Twin Cities for the first time in April. Enjoyed the track. My wife & I stayed in Seymour.

Did have to laugh at the sign "Don't play in the restrooms" though.

North Vernon is one of the best tracks to see a race in Indiana. It doesn't have real nice facilities like some of the other tracks (old wooden stands, primitive bathrooms), but I've never seen a bad race there. The track itself is just simply unique, and conducive to great open wheel racing.

If you've never been there, and will be in the area for sprint week, go.

They'll for sure have a full feature field of quality cars (natl. midgets, anyway).
