Mount Lawn Next Up for the UMRA
All eyes will be on Fortville, Indiana’s Brent Turner on Saturday night as he goes for his second straight victory in UMRA competition at the Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle, Indiana. The historic and scenic venue will be the site of the first pavement race of the 2009 UMRA schedule.
In the 50-lap season finale on September 27, 2008 Turner put on a virtuoso performance to take the third victory of his rookie campaign that resulted in rookie of the year honors and a third place finish in the final point standings. Turner will almost certainly be challenged by his Goff Racing teammates, specifically Terry Goff who won the 2008 UMRA Pavement Series on the strength of two wins at the Anderson Speedway.
Turner and Goff have taken two of the first three rounds of the 2009 season with Brent winning the opener at Brownstown on May 2 and Terry taking the checkered=2 0flag at Gas City on May 29. In the most recent race on Saturday June 6, former UMRA Champion Travis Welpott took the win at the Rush County Fairgrounds in Rushville.
An exciting “race within a race” at Mount Lawn on Saturday and each UMRA race the rest of the season will be the race to see who the “Hard Charger of the Race” will be. The driver to advance the most positions in the feature will receive five gallons of fuel courtesy of G&G Oil.
The gates at Mount Lawn open at 3:30 pm on Saturday, practice will be at 5:00, and the exciting action will be set to begin at 7:30!
