Beginning June 8, INDOT is to have the I69 Gas City exit closed to replace some pipes for about 15 days. Here are ways to get to the track if traveling on I69:

If coming from the north (traveling southbound I69):

Exit at the Marion/Van Buren exit – SR 18. Turn right (west) on SR 18. At the Dollar General Distribution stoplight, turn left (south) on County Road 600 E. Follow this to SR 22 and turn right (west).

If coming from the south (traveling northbound I69):

Exit at the Fairmount exit – SR 26. Turn right (east) on SR 26 to County Road 700 E. Turn left (north) on CR 700 to Wheeling Pike. Turn left (west) on Wheeling Pike to County Road 500. Turn right (north) on to CR 500 until the stoplight (in front of the Wal-Mart Distribution Center). Turn right (east) at stoplight onto SR 22.

Is just the exit closed, or is SR22 blocked so we can't get to the track from the Motels on the East side of I69?

Should we switch to a motel somewhere on the West side of I69? Or, maybe some exits South? From what I see on the maps, it's a long way from one side of I69 to the other. Maybe 15-20 miles?

Seriously, have you ever stayed at that Super 8 at the Gas City exit? The Holiday Inn is nicer for the money, but that's your call. I don't have any investment in either ... if I was traveling I'd stay at a campground, but that's just me.

"it's a long way from one side of I69 to the other. Maybe 15-20 miles?" From what points are you referring?

Measuring on Google Map, it's 10 miles South to Exit 55, then 10 miles North to the track.

State roads 18 and 26? I think that is about right. There is a campground at the State Road 18 exit (that's North of Gas City) and there's also a Day's INN West of I-69...it's nicer than the Holiday Inn, I think. Down the road on 18 is the Marion Inn which has a bar in it, so you probably don't want to stay there. I don't think there are any hotels at the Fairmount Exit.

There's also a McDonalds, Arby's and Subway at the 18(Marion) and 69 exit.
