Chuck,

I always set in the infield you have your own chair that way makes it kinda nice. As for the food the french fries and corn dogs I am quite fond of there thats JMO tho!! Arrival time is up to you that depends on how early you like to get at the track??

Kyle, Watched many a race from the infields of Florence and Eldora. How much of the track can you see? I plan on riding the Honda Davidson but that could change. I'd really like to hit the Indy mile too but I don't think thats possible with a 2hr drive home and work at 430am. I plan to hit Terre again for sprint week so maybe I'll try both.

All suggestions are welcome. I really am pumped to hit this track as its history ladden and the racing seems to be awesome when you can see it.

Although I learned to walk in that infield, as an adult paying race fan I prefer either the West end of the covered grandstand or the East end of the non covered one. Sitting up high in either puts you high enough to see pretty much all of the track and centers you between the two ends of the track.

A massive amount of rain this week, followed by several clear days in the extended forecast, preceding the race could make for a heavy Action Track. If that 's the case, you could very well be kicking yourself in the rear for not going to this place before.

Chuck, I think the best seat in the house is in my pushtruck. Big soft comfy seat, nice heater if it gets cold, A/C if it gets hot. Dust never gets in my eyes. Close to the racing action... sometimes they throw mud and rocks at me though... don't care much for that. If I don't like my view, I move to a new location. Cooler full of ice water and fruit in the back. I get to chat with the drivers a lot. I don't have to pay for my pitpass. If we get rain, I don't get wet. I don't have to worry about being late because they won't start the show without me. I don't know Chuck, if you don't count the car wash bill after the races, I don't think you can beat it. Best seat in the house.

Second best advice: The grandstands are at the start finish line, but it is covered with a tin roof and sometimes get loud under there. The bleachers are coming out of turn four and half way down the frontstretch. They are taller than the grandstands and have a great view of the entire track. You can work on your tan there as well. There are relatively new, very large restrooms behind the grandstand. The infield gives you plenty of room to stretch out and relax with the family and allows you to visit with the drivers and watch the crews wrench on the cars since they have gone back to pitting along the inside of the front stretch. It's cheaper than a pit pass and almost as good. They have portapotties in the infield or you can cross under the track through the tunnel and go to the big ones. Only problem is constantly turning in a circle to watch the races... or getting hit in the head with a frisbee or football. It's a big track, so you can walk from turn to turn and watch from different angles. It is pretty cool to watch the races along the infield fence in the corners. Up close view at ground level of the racing.

There are a few different concession stands under the grandstand and one in the infield. There is a tunnel that goes under the track to the infield. (We won't talk about the broken water main that kept it full of water last year... that was bad news... but that has been fixed.) There are any number of resturants all along the highway in both directions from the track. Take your pick. We have even ordered pizza across the street from the track and had it delivered.

It is a big wide racetrack in the straightaways and in the corners. One thing is for sure. A good night of racing at the Terre Haute Action Track and your first visit won't be your last. Have fun... don't let some of the IOW regulars lead you astray. Most of them are pretty cool, but there are a few that are

Chuck,

That seat is usually reserved for REALLY good looking girls. I'm just guessing you don't look so good in a skirt!

For Hot Laps, go to turn one infield.

For Qualifying, go the very end of the back-stretch entering turn 3 (and watch the drivers work)

For the rest of the night, as high as you can get in the open stands.

Shortbus will be high in the 4th turn Bleachers if they pit in the infield sit near the start/Finish line if water forces the pits outside turn 3 & 4 sit down in the shortbus section as for getting there early go to the area around the bathrooms just west of the ticket office there will be lots of Bull sessions going on as for eating there is a Golden Corral buffet on US 41 just north of the track behind the CVS or a Red Lobster,Deny's,Outback, ect, ect and lots of Fast Food with in a mile of the track

infield kinda sucks... IMO..if your sitting in a chair all you see is whats in front of you then you have you back toward the other turns at track level...sitting up high in turn 4 in the bleachers is great...not crowded at all most of the time..chuck far as dust goes just depends where the wind is coming from have to play that kinda by ear...
