On Saturday night another chapter in the rich history of UMRA TQ Midget racing at the Decatur County Fairgrounds in Greensburg will be written. In the now 49-year history of the UMRA, a quartet of drivers from Greensburg has left a historical dent in the series record books. Rick Meyer, Rollin and Mel Harpring, and Ron Combs combined win total sits at 145. Meyer and Combs have combined for 14 series championships and over 77,000 total points scored for their careers!
Combs has continued to add to his own win total and the win total of the fearsome Greensburg foursome with three wins in 2008 which included a popular hometown victory in July during the Decatur County Fair. He is joined on the track by fellow Greensburg area shoes Becky Brown and Wayne Harpring, who continues the family’s racing tradition. The race in Greensburg will also be the second round of the 2009 UMRA season as Brent Turner will look to repeat the dominant performance he had in Brownstown on May 2nd as he beat teammates Terry and Oogie Goff to the finish line. Joining the UMRA TQ Midgets on the racing card will be 600cc mini sprints that will also put on their usual exciting show for the fans. The kids will want to have their parents take them to the track on Saturday night as one lucky boy and one lucky girl will leave Greensburg with a brand new bicycle. Gates will open at 3:00 pm, practice is set for 5:30, and racing will begin at 7:00. Adults 12 and over get in for $7, kids 7 to 12 pay $3, 6 and under get in for free! The Decatur County Fairgrounds in Greensburg will be the place to be on Saturday night and you are going to want to be there to see all of the exciting action! UMRA Top Ten In Points (After Race One) Brent Turner 150 Terry Goff 136 Oogie Goff 135 Tim Lynch 130 Zach Cougill 117 Jason Vest 112 Tad Cheek 101 Michael Koontz 99 Bobby Walton 98 Ron Hamm 84 |

Sounds like another great show on hand for the UMRA and the great fans in Greensburg. With 4 different classes of open wheeled cars 2 winged and 2 non-winged the fans should see a awesome night of racing.
