Henning goes 2 for 2!

Rod, “Hot Rod” Henning came into the

Saturday night feature as the man to beat for

the 2009 AMSA Nationals. He didn’t take long

to show everyone why. Henning started on

the outside front row of the 20 lap AMSA

feature and jumped to the lead on lap 1. It

looked like Henning would have nother easy

victory at Lawrenceburg, but as the race

reached the half-way point, “Hot Rod” had to

worry about the car right behind him who was

trying both high and low to make the pass.

That car was driven by Beau Stewart. He

caught Henning, and tried for several laps to

pass Henning on the high side, and the low

side. As fans have seen many times before,

the 28 car driven by Henning was strong and

this race was no different. Henning would

pull away from Stewart in the final couple laps

and win by 4-5 car lengths over Beau Stewart,

Ryan Braughton, Dustin Hueston, and Kevin

Roberts, jr. Heat race winners were Stewart,

Henning, and Howard McCormick. Ricky

Taylor won the B-Main. The AMSA mini-

sprints return to the Lawrenceburg Speedway

on Saturday, May 9.
