3 time’s a charm for Ballou
Robert Ballou made his third trip to the Burg
on Saturday, May 2. The third time was
certainly a charm for Ballou who would win
the feature and won for the third time at The
Lawrenceburg Speedway. 22 Lawrenceburg
Chevrolet Sprint Cars would start the feature
with Coleman Gulick and Brady Short on the
front row. At the drop of the green flag, Brett
Burdette flipped end over end down the front
stretch in a scary looking crash. Mark Perry III
was also involved. Both drivers were able to
get out of their cars, but Burdette would later
be transported to a local hospital. Once the
green flag waved again, Short took command
of the race early on as he pulled out to a
comfortable lead on the rest of the field.
With the rest of field beginning to settle in,
Robert Ballou began reeling in Short. Ballou
caught Short on lap 8 and power slid into turn
1 underneath Short and took the lead. Ballou
was running such a fast pace he quickly
caught the back of the pack, and began
lapping the back of the pack. Ballou had a
couple of close calls while racing in lapped
traffic which allowed Short to close the gap,
but Ballou was able to hold on, and take the
victory. Following Ballou across the line were
Short, Hunter Schuerenberg, Nick Faas, and
Coleman Gulick. Heat races were won by
Gulick, Short, and Ballou. The Lawrenceburg
Chevrolet Sprint Cars return to the
Lawrenceburg Speedway on Saturday May 9.
