V.C.S Thoughts....

If you didn’t go you wouldn’t believe how great the entire night went. I mean the racing was “AWSOME”!!! The track was smooth and fast and had a perfect cushion in both corners. I helped out with the pre-race announcing while Joe Jeffries and Lora Jacobson worked the radio show in the pit area and I can tell you right from the start the crowd was pumped up!!! We had people from everywhere and I had a lot of fun talking to them and finding out where they were from. A lot of the sprint car fans were first timers but by the end of the night they had became full timers. The rain threatened but eventually left and the action quickly resumed. The track was to say the least “FAST”!!! I heard no complaints whatsoever. Oh we had several suggestions and a lot of input but “ZERO” complaints. Some of the fans including myself had some doubts about the race cars but not so much about the car counts but the quality of the cars because of the track being a non-sanctioned venue. Well, it didn’t take long to get an answer. The quality definitely showed up to compete in each of the classes. Speaking of the classes some were concerned about the speedway’s choice of running five classes but the concern’s went away when the fans saw that we were on track for a 3 to 3 and half hour turn around. That is of course before 45minute rain delay. Now think about that, 5 classes in under 4 hours!!!! So, for those fans that say,"I don’t want to sit threw all those support classes” you might want to re-think where you’re going next week because the V.C.S staff are not and will not jack around. They keep the race going at a darn good clip. The crowd was unbelievable!! It had to be the biggest crowed for a weekly show that has been there in years. The car count was double from last year and track was the best I’ve seen in the last 3 years. The entire staff strives to make you feel welcome and appreciated. We even had a bouncing castle for the kids that was free of charge. One parent told me that her 3 young boys were on spring break and that this was the most peace she has had all week. Needless to say there were a lot of wore out kids by the end of the night. All in all for the first night I have to give the entire V.C.S staff an A+!!!!!! Can’t wait until next SATURDAY NIGHT!!!!:thumb

Too many support classes. Drop the crates & Pure stocks. I come 3hrs to watch the Sprints and it makes it a long night sitting out all 5 classes. Hint: Haubstadt has never ran more than 3 classes, the same family has kept the track a success for 51 yrs now.

I doubt you'll be missed here either.

I'm usually one of the first to complain about too many support classes, but I really think you're being unreasonable here. I checked the results, and it appears that they only had 10 crate lates, and 15 entries each in the street stocks and pure stocks. How long could it have taken to run 10-15 car classes?

You said you came 3 hours to watch the sprints. Perhaps you could have checked the tracks website before you left. You would've known that they were running those extra classes. I know in the past that I've based decisions on whether to attend shows based at least in part on how many support clases were on the card. Besides, if you drove 3 hours one way, that means you had to have come, what, 175-200 miles? How much did that cost you in gas at $2/gallon? In the context of what you would've spent, it seems like it would be a drop in the bucket to just spring for a pit pass so you could go for a stroll in the sprint pits when the support classes were running. Maybe if all the folks who complain the loudest about too many support classes would buy the pit pass, tracks wouldn't feel the need to run so many extra divisions.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I just don't know how to better a 3 to 3 and a half hour event with 5 classes or even 3. Over 900 people in the stands would agree with me.

I told Big Joe we would check this place out before the year was out. With the good weather forecast, wings at Haustadt, the early finishing time this week and a slow night on the overall racing schedule, it looks like this would be a good week to try VCS.

My thoughts are this, wifey and I made the trip to VCS last Saturday,we had not been there and wanted to follow a certain 11w race team. When we first pulled in at the gate we were greeted 'Hello, Thanks for coming"Interesting I said to my wife.I will not spend alot of time on this as I have shared some thoughts with someone @VCS and they have assured most will be addressed.
With this being said, the program ran quickly, the big delay was mother nature. The quality of sprints there( which is what we go to watch) was very good. The track was awesome IMO, now the challenge is for VCS to keep it this way every Sat.night.I could go on but won't. In a nutshell will we go back, you betcha.Just my .02 worth.
