So, I sit here at Cummins Racing Engines daily, just dreaming up sometime ridiculous, sometimes clever, and sometimes just off the wall ideas. But lately one keeps coming back to me, and I just thought I'd share here in between part changes. So pretty much everyone knows I hope to get back in the seat and be a factor among the sprint car world again, but along with that I've got this urge to help rebuild the sport and find new avenues to do so.

This idea that I can't get out of my head all started a month or two ago after attending the AMA Supercross event at Lucas Oil. I mean those guys don't mess around when it comes to putting on a show for the fans. Whether it be the high flying moto action, drivers coming out from all over the building during intros, full scale pyro mania, good looking Monster/Jagermeister girls in every corner... I mean it's so much more than just the race itself. Similar to pro wrestling in a lot of ways as far as showmanship goes, however the actual competition is 100% real and unscripted.

So now I've got it in my head that I want to try and put on a show like this within our sport, I know the scheduling would be a nightmare, the head aches of all the different bases that would have to be covered would be killer. But think about it, our cars have the largest power to weight ratio out there, the racing is for the most part always exciting, just think if there was something to draw people in, and keep them entertained during the down times, rather than just another trip to the concession stand or restroom.

I already have a when, where, and a date I'd like to give it a shot.. however putting all the ducks in a line would be something I'm completely unfamiliar with.. .. .. ..

Thoughts?

this would have to be a series event format.... like all the kiss races or something you know a select few that fans could follow and expect to see certain drivers there... ect... because they race across the country like what you are talking about and the same guys are there week in and out putting on this show... now i mean whether or not it was an invitational basis, or a full series like MSCS, or sub series like KISS, or sprint weeks would be the only way, and you have to make sure the fan favs are there

I have always thought it would be totally cool to do what you are talking about with some type of cross promotion.
Like a USAC event along with AMA Flat Track bikes or MSCS along with Monster Trucks or you get the idea.
The possibilities are endless, and so to would be the promotional NIGHTMARES getting everything and everybody on the same page.

Good luck, it could be done given the right venue and combination of talent.
You know what they say, "if it was easy, everybody would be doing it"

Yeah, it'd definitely have to be something to where you know what you had to work with ahead of time, and you could shape and form the program around that format, driver roster, etc..

JV,
I raced several times at Jeff City, MO in the early 90's. They did a great job of doing some of the things you are talking about. I did not see any Jager girls, but there were lots of clowns, and always some kind of entertainment going on when cars were not on the track. The place had a pretty nice fenced playground area for the kids.

Well, I've been doing some research into what the status is on Redhill lately, it's close to home for me, and easily accesible. Not to mention the facility is immaculate these days. This would be a prime place to try something like this if it was just a one off attempt rather than trying to facilitate for an entire series of events.

I'm thinking concert after the race, fire works, tshirt launchers, intermission on track events w/ fans, etc etc.. just lots of ideas really. probably will continue to be just ideas, but it's just something I keep thinking about.

While all these thought provoking ideas run through your head, at the best engine shop in the state (obvious plug for CUMMINS RACING ENGINES), shouldn't you be working?

Hey, JV.....Lets do lunch....and Mark, Kyle and Marty can go too!

Seems we are thinking alike, I posted this on March 3rd:

Take a freakin' pen, notepad and camera to any AMA indoor supercross
event or any indoor Monster jam truck event and TAKE NOTES ON HOW TO
PROMOTE. Not long ago the truck deal was here at the Metrodome and 7
of the 9 guys I work with went. Solely due to the promotion prior to it.

I've said this before...but Supercross has it figured out and so does Professional Bull Riding. I've been to a few of their events, and the show they put on is amazing. And the thing is, it's the same exact show every time - they've got it down like clockwork. I know it's hard to duplicate that in outdoor races just because the environment is so hard to control, but I'd love to see sprint car and midget racing put on a show the way SX and PBR do.
