The car is coil front and torsion rear. If I soften the front springs on the car what will this do for me? I am looking to get more forward bite.

For the most part a midget will use a pair of 175 pound springs on the front w/a 25 pound helper on the RF and a 15 pound helper on the LF.(These numbers are for dirt)

Some guys use a 185 or 200 pound spring on the RF if the track is fast and you enter the corners hard or if the driver weighs around 200 plus.

If you soften the front springs the car will compress the springs harder under deceleration and corner entry and transfering weight to the front of the car.

There are some people who feel if they run softer springs or bars(sprint car) in the front and then wind them up to the desired height then the car will spring back faster because of the stored energy. Basically making the car react faster. I've never driven so I cannot attest to the feeling a car gives you under those circumstances. Some of the people I have talked to who have done that complain that the car is unpredictable.

For the most part, you can achieve more forward bite from a few turns here and there and some shock adjustments and learning how to keep the car in the moisture and the weight loaded up using the throttle and brake.

Good Luck,

Scott

1) loosen car up

2) make the front end grab more.

3) Tend to want to make the car bicycle/roll over on the nose.

Fwd Bite.

1) Raise rear radius rods.

2) Lower rear tire pressures and add front tire air pressures.

3) Easy up shocks.

4) Install helper spring on the front shocks, but ask an expert to install them for
you. Two springs are less spring force than one, if installed incorrectly.

5) Raise front, lower back.

6) Add fuel

7) buy new rear tires or treat the rear tires illegally!

8) Add a little more caster.

9) Possibly wider rear rims.

10) Move engine back in chassis.

11) move tank back in chassis

12) rear tie down shocks

13) Make wheel base longer. Lengthen front radius rods.

14) Lower seat in car.

That should do it for now...lol!

Larry "O" and good luck!:moon:

-Raise the front of the car
-Advance degree in your birdcages (if they are set straight up @ 90 deg. roll them forward to 88 deg.)
-Easy up front shocks
-Tie down rear shocks
-Soften the back of the car
-Groove & sipe rear tires
