Question about Lawrenceburg speedway

I want to say that Lawrenceburg speedway is a beautiful facility. I went last year for Indiana Midget Week. However, I was wondering if anything is being done this year to speed up the show. Last year the race didn't end until almost 1 am. I didn't get home until almost 3 am. This is waaaaaay past my bed time :wink It seemed to me the biggest problem was with the response of the wreckers. They didn't seem to know how to get on the track. Is some sort of training being done to teach the wrecker drivers to get on the track? I still plan on going out there again this year for midget week even if there hasn't been any changes. I was just curious if this has been addressed.

I have to tell you that the 1am end of the midget week show was the exception rather than the rule. On most given evenings Dave and his group has us out of there at or around 11:00 to 11:30. If I follow Fishburger to the parking lot I even get out sometimes at 10:00 but that's another story.:wink
The biggest problem I have seen with the wrecker drivers is on a heavy track they sometimes had a problem pushing the sprinters/midgets off and gaining momentum from a dead stop while dealing with the banking that wasn't at that location before. It is one of the growing pains from the newly configured track. With the abbreviated season it took a little while for them to ramp up to the changes. The Hardentown Towing people and other push track drivers have done well for the 'burg in seasons past and I see this as being less of an issue to a non-issue as time goes on.

Look at our schedule, we only run one support class for special events and 3 for regular events. Things happen on race nights that is beyond our control, but we do our best to run a smooth, exciting program. Thanks for your concearns and i hope the next time you come you get out earlier. Thanks, Dave Rudisell |

I am a firefighter/emt so I understand the need to treat people carefully. I am excitted to hear that night was the exception. I loved the facility and can't wait to get out there again this year. I have been telling my wife about the facility since midget week. She seems to look foward to seeing Lawrenceburg Speedway. I was also very impressed with the quality of the racing there. Very fast race track. I bet the world of outlaws are going to be amazing there. Can't wait to get to Lawrenceburg this year!

Dave and his track safety crew do a great job at Lawrenceburg Speedway responding to accidents. Some local tracks need to take notes on how to respond to an accident, and yes i'm speaking from experience!!!!!

I always call em like I see em, Friend or no. Great people or not.
I feel tons of times a lot longer was taken than necessary. I will never consider a safety issues (EVAC of a flip, bad crash) To be a distraction or a complaint on times. However. someone has a flat. Push em behind the wall on the back straight infield and GO instead of taking the time to remove from the track and sometimes waiting for wreckers (Push trucks) to return. DO it after the event. That being said. I was out of there early many times last year. Once the feature was pushed off before the sun set. They work hard but I do feel a couple things could be done to get a race restarted quciker like the one mentioned and I'd still like to see a car that got off durring a yellow, back in the chute before the one to go get to return. Exciting racing can come of it and more cars finish. One night they pushed off outside the track and entered. I know room was tight but is that considered expecially after the pits are expanded? Be there as much as possible. I still have yet to visit a dirt track that overall is anwhere close. Racing varies from night to night at any track but the view of the track, the facilities, the hard work are second to none. Even the one night I visited it got super dry slick. I still hardly had any dust on me. Compared to that Big Letter track a hundred miles north. Thats saying something be it the design, The clay used or the prep work ![]() Constructive critisizm Chuck

No problem. I now logistics of the track layout have a little bit to do with it. Not to mention its a much bigger place. You just can't go off the back straight at speed like you used to and return to the pits and you just can't push off from outside the track either. Tower cranes? CALLING BILL CUNNINGHAM! J/K Chuck
