Such a sad day. He was one of my heroes when I was a boy. What a racer and what a gentleman.

Donald Davidson wrote a great tribute to Rube.

RIP

I have read many an article on this legend and the man was well respected.

Also condolences to the Al Unser family. Big Al's other daughter passed away yesterday as well from a heart attack.

I always liked hearing and reading about Rube. Before I was old enough to go to Indy on my own, I always sat in a big rocking chair we had and listened to the Indy 500 and cheered for him. I finally got to meet him at the Hoosier Hundred about 18 or so years ago, and it was just like I had always known him. He was every bit of the gentleman I thought he would be, and very humble. You will be missed by many. God bless Rube and his family.
