MY GOOD FRIEND AND EX TEAMATE IS 79 THE 1973 USAC SPRINT CAR CHAMPION! HAD LUNCH WITH ROLLIE MONDAY IN LEESBURG FL. HIS WINTER HOME THEN BACK TO TOLEDO IN APRIL! ONE OF THE NICEST MEN AND A GREAT RACE DRIVER DIRT OR PAVEMANT! PLAYS GOLF OR FISH'S EVERY DAY! IN GREAT SHAPE! A TRUE GENTELMAN!:applaud:
Rollie is a racing icon! Not only is he the ultimate racer...he was one of the best USAC Officials to ever walk the pit area!!!! We need more people like Rollie! Happy B-day Rollie and many more to come!
Rollie is for sure a fine gentleman. He also was the kind of race car driver that you could run it in the corner side by side with and know he would race you clean. Without doing a lot of research, he may have won more USAC features, 30, than anyone in the same car when he drove the Rodeo Bar car for Ron Killman.
Rollie shares his birthday, January 16, with another pretty good dirt track racer A. J. Foyt. I'm actually old enough to have seen the two of them in the same sprint car race.
I always look forward to our annual trip to Ohio to visit family because it includes a visit with Rollie and Anna Mae as well. Usually there is an opportunity to visit Donnie Harrell's shop to see what restoration project he and Rollie and some other old timers are working on. This is where the Rodeo Bar car was restored along with several others.
Duke, I wish I could be as slim as Rollie when I'm his age :thumb

Yeah, I figured that Duke. I was born and raised in Detroit and grew up around Toledo Speedway. Never went to the Rodeo Bar (I was a teenager when I moved to California), but that is a sponsor name that stayed in my head for all of these years.
