Not as much energy today so not sure that I have that much to offer. Last night's racing was pretty much a yawner unless you are a Sammy fan. He did put on a good show in his heat race coming from the back to win, and domianted everything else. The only guy who might of had something for him was Mcreadie.
Mcreadie's flip....it looked like the rear axle broke around the start/finish line and of course snapped off when he got sideways going into 1. Very scary incident, and very lucky for the fans that a) the car landed where it did as there is scaffolding seating in turn 1 b) the RR wheel and about a foot long axle piece stuck into the track and didn't fly like the car did. Apparently he landed flat on the concrete and the concrete is about 6 feet below the racing surface, so he had roughly a 20 foot drop is my guess. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. The track come A main time was 1 groove on the bottom. Clauson was able to run up top but only until he got to the mid packers and then he went nowhere. Couple other random thoughts, not necessarily pursuant to last night's racing. Isn't it amazing how some guys always start in the back and have the best chance at passing points.....Sammy for instance. I would love to have kept track over the years to find out where he and some others started each year on their qual night. You certainly couldn't tell from the pits that this country is in a major recession, with the exception that there are still about 10 cars for rent, a Kruseman car, a Felker car, a Murdock car, a Camfield car, and a few other one offs. However, I'm interested to see the fan attendance tonight, as there was still a good deal of empty seats in the stands last night. Finally...$4.25 for a 12 ounce can of beer, it was $3.25 last year....nice inflation. Off to Wal Mart to buy our own case tonight at $12. |

Thanks TQ 97 for the update. Very informative. Noticed Ventura Raceway, CA
will host 3 NMRA TQ Midget races this year, plus even a Lightning sprint race. That is change and pretty amazing to me. Larry Otani:applaud: |

Sorry AJ. I'm a Sammy fan and have been since watching him at Haubstadt in 1975. Wish I had been there. Unfortunately, will miss the Chili this year. But, did cook up a pot of my own here at home. PUts most others to shame.
Sorry to hear about Tim. Hope he gets well soon. Jim Morrison |
