Check out highlights from last night's Badger Midget A-Main from Angell Park Speedway. Another barn burner with a three lap dash to the finish!

Great finish. However, who does track prep at Angell Park now? I have been going to this track since the early 90s and the track this year has been worse than I can ever remember. It also seems like every week it gets even worse than the week before. With USAC sprints coming in a few weeks, I sure hope they get it figured out. If I owned a sprint car and wasn't in the points race, I sure wouldn't haul all the way up to run on a corn field. I know several IRA teams have said they aren't coming back to run this Sunday the 9th because of how bad it was a few weeks ago.

If you weren’t in the area this weekend, it rained all day Saturday. Beaver Dam cancelled. Plymouth cancelled. The infield at Sun Prairie was soggy. Our regular push off area was too wet.

And other than the “ledge” in turns 3-4 (I won’t call it a curb), it was a fast, racy track by the end of the night. I’m happy they worked to get the show in and on time.

Ok.... so what was the excuse for 2 weeks ago for the IRA sprint cars? This is a trend, not an outlier. Multiple teams (including Badger midget teams) have been vocal on social media that they will not be going back to APS until they either figure things out, or get a new person performing track prep.

There was also more than a ledge in turn 4. Winged sprint cars were bouncing all over the place in turns 1 and 2. The wingless cars were biking bad as well. Kyle Stark went airborne end over end in turn 1 as a result of the roughness of the track. That is also included in the highlights attached on this post. Video does not lie.

I know Angell Park is under tremendous pressure from the city and it is becoming harder and harder to stay up and running. But at this point, it seems like it is accelerating the inevitable

I know what happened because I was there. I’m not going to debate the matter.

I can’t speak for others and I’m not telling them what to do. We are a Badger Midget team and I can tell you that we will be there this Sunday for the Norm Nelson Classic.
