On this date, Dec. 6, in 1980, the first midget race was run in the Pontiac Silverdome. It was an invitational race, and was called Heroes vs. Outlaws. It paid a $50,000 purse. Steve and Kelly Kinser were among the participants. Gene Gennetten won the feature.
