Big Money On the Line for the K-C Classic Thursday

The Ti22 Performance FAST on Dirt tour is in the midst of its largest and most lucrative season ever. The stars and cars of Ohio's premiere 410 winged sprint car touring series will race for a record purse this Thursday night with a $20,000 payday on the line for the winner of the main event at Atomic Speedway. The 40 lap feature race, dubbed the "K-C Classic" will pay tribute to the many years the 68 year old facility ran under the K-C Raceway name.

With a record purse on the table, drivers not only from around the country, but around the world, have taken notice! Drivers indicating their intent to battle Thursday hail from California, Oklahoma, Texas, Washington, Oregon, and at least one Australian driver plans to appear. Combine this list with the FAST on Dirt tour regulars and the Atomic Speedway stars and it will be one tough field on entrants.

Gary Taylor currently leads the FAST tour standings in the Joe Seeling 97 with a feature win already on the season. Cole Duncan, winner of the last FAST show at Atomic, now sits second in the standings and has had a stranglehold on Atomic Speedway. A very consistent Mitch Harble now sits 3rd in tour points with brother Jordan Harble 4th. Vienna, West Viginia's Cale Conley, fresh off a runner-up finish on the mammoth West Virginia Motor Speedway, now rests in the 5th spot and plans to chase the tour points the balance of the season.

Rounding out the top 10 are Max Stambaugh, Lee Jacobs, Brandon Wimmer, Frankie Nervo and defending tour champion Tyler Gunn. Other regulars on the tour include the 19 car of Ryan Prosser and driven by RJ Jacobs who had a rough start to the year. The 6M car owned by Jamie Miller will be piloted by Jac Haudenschild again this Thursday. Finally, the Jim Muth owned 101 car is scheduled to have Australian ace Lachlan McHugh in the seat Thursday.

Pit gates will open at 3 pm on Thursday with general admission gates open at 4. The driver's meeting is scheduled for 6:30 with hot laps and qualifying at 7 and racing at 8. General admission tickets are $30 with kids 10 and under free. Seniors 60+ and veterans are just $25. Pit passes are $40. Atomic is one of the few tracks who offer a discounted pit pass for kids 6-10 and it is just $20 with kids 5 and under free.

For competing teams, it is very simple. Tires must be 4 corner Hoosier with the H series left rear and a choice on the right rear of the H15, H20, Medium or W18. You do NOT have to run the same right rear all night. Wings must be flat top with a maximum 2" wickerbill. Cars must weigh 1400 pounds with driver after qualifying and the top 3 will weigh after the feature. Mufflers are NOT required. Fuel is available at the track and there will be a parts truck/tire dealer in the pit area.

The format with 30+ cars is two separate flights for qualifying. After hot lap sessions, 2 car/ 2 lap qualifying for flight A lines up heats 1 and 2 while flight B lines up heats 3 and 4, staggered with an inversion of 4 for heat races. Format may need to be adjusted based on car count. The fastest qualifier who transfers and the heat race winner will redraw for A-Main starting spots.

Larson over Hunter and I think Conley 3rd. Could be wrong on 3rd. Just got over about 10 minutes ago. Late for a school night. A lot of early cautions but they got it rolling pretty good after they got through that. From what I saw on Flo looked like a big crowd. A little consolation prize, made it back home from Terre Haute just in time to see the whole show
