Maybe they were gona run the WoO race, but it was rained out...
![]() It's like his hometown, so why not? Coolest part of the story I read: "A couple notes from the night, all driver draw fees were paid by Justin Webb and Southern Coatings" - as a firm believer the showman (drivers) shouldn't have to pay to perform (but I realize the biz wouldn't really be viable enough for this to keep it goin to often...), it is awesome a sponsor stepped up!

No but he’s the most famous. Just padding his stats. He’s been doing this for the last couple of years with ASCS races. When he tries to run with the big boys he can’t even or barely makes the A-Main. Eldora prime example. There will be * by his win total.

Will that asterisk also be by his 394 WoO win total and 5 Chili Bowl wins?

Yeah I’m no Sammy fan, but it’s difficult to not respect winning in any type of sprint car race at 62. The King also struggled running with the WoO his last couple years. Age catches up to everyone eventually, but that doesn’t mean the drivers deserve disrespect for choosing to run lower series when that happens. Hope Sammy keeps running what he wants and keeps winning.

No those were in his prime and I give him lots of credit and respect for all those wins. Not a fan of his but I have to admit he could sling a car around. Just irks me he’s got this #stillwinning thing going around like he’s winning big races. I’m sure some of the younger kids like getting the chance to race with a legend. But I’d prefer to see him move on to something else. How about giving a kid a shot with your car and team and passing the bucket. Notice I didn’t say kick the bucket.

Chief,
I have an idea. Instead of hiding behind a computer keyboard and calling Sammy a cherry picker, why don't you go face to face with him the next time you see him at a track. Be a man and tell him that age 62, you should not be cherry pickin races and winning them. You should not be racing at a track near your home town. And you should give up your ride to a young kid and pass the bucket. Really. Surprised you did not bring up Sammy being on the recent cover of Sprint and Midget magazine. I suppose he did not earn that either. After you go face to face with Sammy, let us all know how that works out. Let us know what he has to say to you. |
