Made it to the SOD show at Butler last Saturday. I was waiting over by the pit fence to say "Hi" to Eric Smith but he never looked my way.

Good crowd, good number of cars, 27 sprints. Chase Ridenour took honors with a good run. Good show. Sprints ran before mods so we got out of there around midnight-ish as we left after the SOD finale.

As for the new banking, I was looking at it from my seat and saw no change. I then turned to my right to ask Battle Creek Lou, who has the eye of an eagle, what he thought. "Looks the same," he replied.

After a bit, one of the sprint drivers walked by and we asked him about it and got a good answer:

There has always been a bit of a progressive-type banking at Butler. A "bow/crease" in the middle of the corners, so to speak. This bow has been eliminated and now the corners are more consistently banked all the way up from bottom to top. The actual height of the corners has not changed. So there you have it.

As for the facilities, the west end ladie's room was roped off and the men's room down there had no running water for the sink. The latter is not changed from years' past. I dread to think what happened inside the former.

The west end ladies room flooded opening night so I'm guessing something didn't get shut off and drained properly last fall. Did you see the bushel basket size boulder they dug out of turn 1 during one of the intermissions Saturday night? Where the heck did that come from?!?!?! It was barely all one guy could do to carry it off!

I talked to a few drivers including Gregg Dalman and Ryan Ruhl. They said the track is no different. They said it's still fast and really could tell no difference at all. In the words of Dalman "It's still a 410 track".
