I have recieved word from some of the traditional non-wing sprint car racers that live in my area that Dean Miracle has signed a two year lease on the Waynesfield Motor Sports Park in Waynesfield, OH.

I have known Dean for many years. He has a vast knowledge from all angles of racing and I am sure he will do his best to take Waynesfield to the next level. Back in the early 80's when we were running stock cars he was promoting Limaland Speedway. Over the years he has been a car owner, promoter, worked a lot with Earl Baltes, run a t-shirt trailer at Eldora and was promoting a late model series in recent years. He also I believe was the promoter for the special shows that were ran at Millstream Speedway in Findlay, OH in 2008, so Dean's been around the racing industry for many years and worked with some of the best.

The local racers told me that Dean hopes to be able to announce some of his plans at the Waynesfield Banquet on November 2nd.

All you traditional sprint car fans and competitors need to speak up and send a message to Dean and let him know what you would like to see at Waynesfield in 2009 & 2010. I don't currently have any contact info for him but I believe he may visit this message board at times.

I saw another thread here on IOW about Montpelier Speedway thinking about running some sprint shows in 2009. This may also be a good time for those folks to seriously think about this. I know last season, I heard a lot of the racers and fans saying they wished Montpelier would run them on the off nights at Waynesfield as they wanted somewhere to go every week.

If you want to see traditional sprint car racing at Waynesfield, I suggest you all let it be known. Even if you never post but like to read the topics here on IOW, you may want to make a post on this and let Dean know we want traditional sprint car racing to continue at Waynesfield. Even though I like all forms of dirt track racing, the traditional sprinters are my favorite.:thumb

Tom,

Thanks for the information. I hope that Dean can keep the non-wing sprints as part of the show at Waynesfield. I have enjoyed coming over and watching the shows there. It would be great if we could have Waynesfield and Montpelier both run sprints alternating between the two. Another option for Saturday nights.

Mike

Be nice to people on the way up. You might need them on the way down. Jimmy Durante

The rumor i have heard already is that it will be winged 360's every saterday night. Which makes sence with all the 360's they pull at Lima on Friday. Kind of a bummer if you ask me.

I've heard also more wing 360 than anything else, which makes sense being they are so close to Lima, which isn't all bad. The 360's do put on a good show at Waynesfield, probably one of the best places for a wing show.

But I also heard there will be some late model specials and also a few traditional non-wing shows, the reason I started this thread. The non-winger I talked to said if the cars and fans would show up,, he would run more of them.

So if you're a non-wing fan, speak up and then SHOW-UP or don't complain when another traditional non-wing track is gone.

I've known Dean long enough and well enough that I feel safe to say, he is a lot like me, he likes ALL dirt track racing and it really doesn't matter what he runs more of, traditional sprints, wing-360 sprints, late model, it's gonna be the bottom line at the end of the night that will decide what he will run.

He enjoys his racing but I'm sure with a 2 year lease, fun isn't the only thing he's looking for, he's wanting to make a living also. With the support, he will make good things happen at Waynesfield.

Traditional sprint fans, keep in mind when he promoted Lima back in the 80's, it WAS a traditional non-wing show EVERY Friday night. Dean does like the non-wingers, and will support the non-wingers, but he is also as I said trying to make a living. I'm sure he will be supporting those that support him.

I wish he would schedule a MSCS show in early May and get some of those cars and fans there for the first time. I'm sure once they have been there, they would come back.

Did Waynesfield ever determine their plans for next year? I thought they were going to announce early this month.

Dean did speak at the banquet last weekend and told everyone that no class is being eliminated in fast there will be more as the stock cars will be back and there will be some late model shows. Hw has a race scheduled for the 360's that will pay the most money ever to win in this area and I believe on July 10 will be a $6000 to win Late Model race. He is selling billboards that will go across the backstretch on the poles that have been put in that are about 90 feet back from the backstretch. He has alot planned for the place and he has a schedule tentatively worked out but is finishing up Sept and Oct. He asked for anyone that would be interested in running there to contact him with your number as he wants to have a meeting at the track with all the different classes in the next few weeks to hash some things out.

I called Dean a few weeks ago. He told me Non Wingers would still race. Some Nites would be Wing and Non- Wing together with the Non-wingers taking a cut in the purse. He did say when the Wings were not running that the non-wings would run with a normal purse. How many times that will happen I do not know?
