My next door neighbor. I thought it was really cool to have a National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee for a neighbor. I didn't know he was well known in drag racing circles before he got into sprint cars and Indy cars, till I moved next door to him. He invited me to come look at a drag car they were recreating from the 1950's a few yrs ago. Showed me the Hot Rod magazine it was on the cover on about 1952.
He was also very gracious to an autograph hunting buddy of mine from Tulsa when he came out for a visit. He also signed a pic of Gary Bettenhausen that Brent T. Funk entrusted with me.
I'll miss chatting with him when I'm out mowing the lawn. RIP.......
