Head for your USAC media guides. Out of all of Dave's victories in USAC, how many were on dirt, if any.It seems to me he had one in the Silver Crown cars the year he won the title.I could check my books ,but it would take several days to get to them. Anyonewith quick answer. I also encourage everyone on this forum to purchase a Dave Steele t-shirt.All proceeds go to his Wife and children. DaveSteeletributetees. com or Jacob Wilson's facebook or website.Great looking t-shirts.

Dave Steele won the Tony Bettenhausen Memorial 100 at Springfield driving a car out of the 6R Racing stable back in 2006 but didn't make weight. The victory officially went to Tracy Hines, who had ran second behind Dave that day.

I don't remember how much under the required weight Dave's car was or if it would have been a significant advantage. However, I do remember that Dave won rather handily that day.

Silver Crown Championship Dirt Cars properly driven on a one mile dirt track are classic poetry in motion. Using that analogy, Jack Hewitt is one of the greatest poets of all time.

I can remember him running a Hoosier Hundred back maybe 15 years ago and leading every lap except the last few when Darland got around him for the win.
