Just a quick clarification. SOD is not a 360 series anymore as they allow open motors (410, 360, and 305). The difference being SOD requires narrow RR and LR tire to equalize out the motor difference.

Attn. SOD car owners, I have an all aluminum 391 Chevy engine for sale that I believe would a perfect combination for your series.
Thanks

New race at Berlin Raceway was just recently announced. So far this is the only sprint race at Berlin after they dirt it over in September. MTS has a "TBA" date for late September on their calendar, however.

I know that when SOD announced this open engine rule before the 2016 season, there were a number of naysayers. Since they're sticking with it this year I presume it was fairly successful. How were the car counts? I'm guessing if most of the tracks were dry/slick that the 410's didn't have a big advantage. Was that the case? Or with the tire limits did track conditions really not matter that much?. I'm just curious. Thanks!

You laugh because I'm different. I laugh because you're all the same. Copied from the back of the #16 supermodified.

Pj,

being a lifelong SOD fan and former Michigander i can say this combination works for this group. Most of the tracks in Michigan lack traction, so huge horsepower will make the car hard to drive. Also, these races don't pay big bucks which is another key to keeping teams in check spending a ton of money to win $1,200-$1,500 just doesn't work out. The competition is good and with an open set of rules anyone can race. I wish more groups would consider less rules, it makes thing real simple.

A 360 beat the 410's at Hartford when it was a big half mile if that means anything.

I think the biggest thing is guys are now buying $8-15,000 older 410 motors and are competitive compared when it was a 360 series guys were spending $20-40k on motors and you had to have one of those to be up front.

Last year there were 360 and 410's pick up wins and several 305's in the top 5 many nights. I think the formula is working. I have already heard 4-5 guys are returning to be regulars with SOD. Looking to be a good 2017.

The Berlin race is paying a minimum 2500 to win and 400 to start. Could be a good field for the late season race.
