That would make 143 fatalities during the running of the Isle of Mann race.
They are most likely the bravest racers of all.

It's an incredible race....brave does not begin to describe it. I owned & drove sprints for 20 yr, now I have motorcycles and I can't imagine pushing their limits on public roads

Never been scared in a car or my off road truck, even while crashing pretty good. Closed my eyes and hung on.
I'm pretty old and still ride some speedway races, I'm a little scared. I've crashed a few times. Fractured neck, broken ribs, twice broken collarbone, yada yada. Its a good fear in my case. Theres no closing your eyes and hanging on when you crash a race bike, you ride it out to the end hoping for a miracle save.
Its pretty scary watching my son race. The butterflys usually start the day before he competes and I feel like puking the day of a race till we get to the track. I've seen him into and one time thru the wall in the last few years. That's not to mention the other 25 or 30 crashes he's had, pretty typical for a young speedway rider that goes like hell.
I would not even consider riding the way those guys do. Not only could I not consider it, I know I couldn't even come close to getting up the guts. They are insane.
