What we have here is a failure to communicate.

Are you asking about Chassis Builders or Classes and divisions of Midget racers.
While some classes may play bit roles in the production program some may actually be the race program itself. For example Quarter Midgets (kids 5-15 years old) do stand alone programs. This division has produced many top notch racers over the years., How about Half Midgets sometimes aligned with the Quarters. Micro Midgets 250cc-600cc's also put their own show on for the public. Moving on up we have the Three quarter Midgets cars that used to be just a little smaller than the traditional midget, put on shows at Fair's all over the country. Yhen we move up a notch to Mini-Sprint or Lightning sprint. These are full size Midget chassis powered by High performance Motor cycle engine. They have been a Enigma to Full Midget racer's since their inception. While using the standard Midget chassis and running gear they chose very inexpensive power plant when comparing them to the cost of the National Motor. Their only problem is that on a track 1/4 mile or smaller they are very competitive with the National cars. When they put on their wings they are faster than the Midgets Or Sprint cars on a small Bull Ring.
That brings us to the Midget D2 class a combination of Mini Sprints and Midget chassis cars powered by both Motorcycle and late model 4 cylinder 4 valve automobile engines, also much less expensive than the Midget engine.
Mini Sprints and D2 Midgets usually play supporting roles on a racing card, giving the Top Billed acts time to repair and make ready for their next race. As in show business which in fact is what racing actually is>>>> "There are no small roles just small actors", You would also be surprised how many of these top billed drivers actually spent some time in the lower divisions before achieving prominence as Sprint car or National Midget drivers, and in fact because of the performance of these cars many prominent drivers are returning to race them, simply because they can afford this type of car.
Now are we ready to go into chassis builders????
