The Midwest TQ Racing League
presented by Jenmarco.com begins its seventh season of competition on Saturday night May 23rd at the Shelby County Fairgrounds after inclement weather cancelled the scheduled race last weekend.
This will be the first of six appearances of the MTQRL three-quarter midgets at the Shelbyville, Ind. track this season. The quarter mile oval is a favorite of both the competitors and fans and it is a track where the MTQRL traditionally has its highest car counts.
Eighteen-year-old Cody Kiewitt is set to make his first start as the defending MTQRL champion. The Seymour High School student, just a few days shy of graduation, will look to get his 2015 season off to a good start. He will be facing stiff competition from four-time MTQRL champion Tate Martz who has won nine of the twenty-three features held at Shelbyville.
Other drivers with multiple feature wins at Shelbyville under their belt include Ronnie Combs (4), 2013 MTQRL champion Nick Speidel (3), and Brett Hankins (3) who swept both races last season.
Adult general admission is $10, children (7-12) are $5, 6 and under free. Grandstands open at 5:00 pm, practice is at 5:30 pm followed by qualifications at 6:00 pm and racing at 7:00 pm.
