The Midwest TQ Racing League presented by Jenmarco.com begins its seventh season of competition on Saturday night May 23rd at the Shelby County Fairgrounds after inclement weather cancelled the scheduled race last weekend.

This will be the first of six appearances of the MTQRL three-quarter midgets at the Shelbyville, Ind. track this season. The quarter mile oval is a favorite of both the competitors and fans and it is a track where the MTQRL traditionally has its highest car counts.

Eighteen-year-old Cody Kiewitt is set to make his first start as the defending MTQRL champion. The Seymour High School student, just a few days shy of graduation, will look to get his 2015 season off to a good start. He will be facing stiff competition from four-time MTQRL champion Tate Martz who has won nine of the twenty-three features held at Shelbyville.

Other drivers with multiple feature wins at Shelbyville under their belt include Ronnie Combs (4), 2013 MTQRL champion Nick Speidel (3), and Brett Hankins (3) who swept both races last season.

Adult general admission is $10, children (7-12) are $5, 6 and under free. Grandstands open at 5:00 pm, practice is at 5:30 pm followed by qualifications at 6:00 pm and racing at 7:00 pm.

Weathermen are predicting a gorgeous day tomorrow for the MTQRL Season Opener at the Shelby County Fairgrounds in Shelbyville, Ind.

The forecast is for 79° with sunshine and clouds mixed during the day and partly cloudy with a low of 58° during the evening. It should make for a very comfortable late afternoon and evening to watch the MTQRL three-quarter midgets from the beautiful covered grandstands.

MTQRL chief steward Tom Wilson and tech inspector Greg Stanfill were at the track this morning and met with the fair board to look over the grounds and track to make sure everything will be ready for tomorrow. They were both pleased with what they saw and the efforts of the fair board.

The pit gate will open at 2:30 pm and the grandstands at 5:00 pm. The drivers meeting is scheduled for 5:00 pm, practice at 5:30 pm, qualifications at 6:00 pm, and racing is set to begin at 7:00 pm.

Adult general admission is $10, children 7-12 are $5 and those 6 and under are free.

Pit passes are $25 for all ages. Anyone 17 years of age or younger that wishes to enter the Restricted Pit Area must have both parents present to sign the proper Parental Consent forms.
