I have a 31 spline winters rear end the input shaft bearing is spinning in the housing but not on my shaft.so my question is when I bolt my torque tube to the rear end does it apply enough pressure on the bearing to hold it in place?I know that I have been told it would need sleeved to fix but I honestly don't want to have to go that route at this time if I can.thank you for the looks and advice

I have fixed some by measuring the bore, and the brg, then buying a feeler gauge strip, slightly thicker than the difference, then lay it in the bore, and cut it slightly shorter so it doesn't overlap, then warm up the snout with propane, put some red locktite on the brg od, and drop it in, if done right, you could get a season out of it, then do it again. Feeler stock is available online, or some of the box parts stores. Bob

We make a sleeve that when we machine the snout and install...tightens the bore and offers a longtime solution and insures a square surface. The torque tube should not have pressure on the bearing. It should have a register deep enough that it fits over the bearing but allows the tube to bolt down without pulling on the flange.
Some people loctite it in place if there is some crush on it. That is temporary at best. One problem with loctite fix is that the bearing being loose is often a symptom of a bigger problem. Often the snout is bent and the rear has been running out of square causing the bearing to become loose.
Another problem with it being loose is that it moves during racing causing the seal to deflect and the rear to leak. Usually results in the seal coming out in an external coupler rear. if you would like us to do some work for you....please contact us at 317 273 0655 and ask for Bill. Thanks for the recommendation tranny man

what are the options on fixing the threads on the snout? i've got a center that has been helicoil'd once and those threads have been ripped out.
