I can't believe how empty the stands are. Wow.

Apparently they didn't have a large advance ticket sale, and the walk up crowd didn't materialize because of the weather.

Its sad to see what that race has become..it used to be a waiting line to get tickets..but now you can still get great seats on race day..I am sure the weather played big into the empty stands..still one of my favorite nascar tracks..plus its the day before my birthday

You used to have to purchase the license to the seat and buy the ticket with a two year waiting list.

The crowd has filled in a bit but it still isn't 1/3rd capacity. Wow.

Spring race always less attended than summer event. 47 degrees and wet will do this to you.

I wonder when he last sellout was? Only Speedway Motorsports Inc. knows.

It's a shame what hotels do you too... double their room rates for race weekend. I guess that's pretty standard though.

I still gets calls from their ticket office, as well as Daytona, trying to sell me tickets even though I quit buying them about 4 years ago. Last year they asked me why I quit buying tickets and what would it take to get me back. When I first bought tickets I was placed on a waiting list. Weather might have played a part in empty seats but I been down there when it snowed and the place was packed. My opinion is NASCAR popularity has fallen off, look at the TV ratings this year compare to the last couple years down a lot and that has nothing to do with economy or weather.

1. Prices went through the roof. You had to buy tickets for both Nationwide and Cup just to get a ticket. Ran people off.

Weather, Yes the spring race was always less attended but it used to get pretty packed, people froze and got sunburn in the same weekend

Parking, Camping, hotels jacked prices

People have less disposable income

Track change

Track Change again.

Personally I think the racings as good as ever. Expecially this night stuff.. Much better than that restrictor plate crap.

Coal Mines and all associated jobs around it are being destroyed all around the area.

Theres probably more too it but thats some of it.

Prices went way up starting in early 2000's and a lot of people, me included, got ticked off at their arrogance (NASCAR and the tracks) and we have never forgot what they pulled. At one time I've had season tickets at Searspoint, Phoenix and Vegas. Never again. They screwed themselves.
