OK here's the deal. You've got $40 to spend on a night out to the races. The $40 has to include admission, gas and food. So where do you chose to go for your night out at the races? How is that $40 spent?
I'd go to Williams Grove for their Saturday Night Series Program. It's $5 to get in for a three division show of Super Sportsman, 358 LM's and Street Stocks. Gas to get there and back is about $20 as it's about a 170 mile round trip. That will leave me $15 for food and drink, so I should be able to make it home with a few bucks still in my pocket.
Haubstadt............Pre-Race Tailgatin with Surf-n-Turf & Dos Equis...........= Perfect racing experience.......With Leftover Cash !! Mo Will.............Watch em now!
I got three tracks I can hit for that money, Take in drinks and none leftover. Its 90mi round trip to all of em and only one runs Sprints so you can guess LBurg is where im at. I do spend more at the track sometimes a Pretzel or Pizza or both LOL I can fit that into the 40
Every other track I go to is 200-400mi round trip and cost about a hundred to hit with a full tank of gas at 60+ dollars summer prices. eating twice and drinks. Lets just say there will be less of those this year.
I know we are spoiled here in Indiana, but I could do 15 tracks here for one of their regular shows. A couple of them I would spend it all while others I would have money left over. The admission price would be anywhere from $10-$15 with a sandwich & drink in the $5-$8 range. Fuel would be $12-$15 range for out of town shows. They are:
DIRT-Gas City, Kokomo, Montpelier, Twin Cities, Lawrenceburg, Lincoln Park, Bloomington, Rushville, Paragon and Shelbyville. They all have open wheel racing on the card as well.
PAVEMENT-Anderson, Speedrome, Baer Field, LOR and Mt. Lawn. Some open wheel shows while others would be fendered cars.

Be nice to people on the way up. You might need them on the way down. Jimmy Durante
I'm really a stubborn old fart about what races I'd pay to attend (don't care for wings or any tin tops except modifieds). And I rarely go to a race without buying a pit pass. It is tough to live in central Illinois with my particular preferences
So (unless POWRi is running at Lincoln) that really just about leaves me staying home and saving that $40 to spend on gas to get a race some other time.
C ya in Indiana after I have the gas money saved up
