The price of racing is coming down, the XT is a quality product at at a somewhat reduced cost. Hope that it helps keep the midget division going for a few more years. But something in the $10,000.00 to $15000.00 range would bring about a full blown resurgence of the class.
My question is the old 2 valve and single cam heads are obsolete in everything except auto racing. Esslinger builds a very strong motor and make its own castings as required. If they could develop a 4 valve head with two cams even under USAC rules now wouldn't it be the motor of choice. It would also probably do away with valve spring replacement and cut the cost of ownership down quite a bit, it probably would not even require Ti valves and parts with those smaller valves.
Then go one step further and convert it to the big bang design and on a dry slick dirt track it would probably be unbeatable.
BUT heck it is already unbeatable, so why change? Make that the 20-20 update.
