WOW! 5 G's to win and $10 admission. Nice gesture on their part.
think i'm gonna need to make a trip home (old home) the last week of august for this one (usac, poweri and ardc are all open that date) should be some great racing for a great cause!
a spacious semi-banked 3/8th's mile in the middle of cow country, yet not far off the beaten path. one amazing thing is that this track has changed hands several times over the years, but the same awesome coney dogs have remained at the concession booth un-changed through out it all, they alone are reason enough to attend!
it was known as buckeye speedway throughout most of the 80's and 90's
Wayne County Speedway is a quick, high-banked 1/8th mile clay oval most often seeing lap times in the 9 – 11 second range. The newly owned speedway is located approximately 3 miles south of Wayne City, Illinois on Route 242. The track is completely wrapped with a high, well-supported catch fence atop a strong guardrail. It is known for becoming a slick surface from the infield tires all the way up to a fast cushion, right around the outside wall, creating the perfect conditions for lap-after-lap slidejobs and constant 3-wide battles.
I ran there several times with upright mini sprints. But that was before they made it into its current configuration. There's not much around it but was always a super racy track. And at an hour from the shop I'll make the tow down to run this show too.
