I posted last night that Andrew was taken to the hospital for treatment and observation. The doctors ran a battery of tests today and much like a my car mechanic they came back with exactly what wasn't wrong. As you can probably tell my patience is rather thin this evening. Anyway he is not neutropenic, the centerline is clear and not the problem but he has some type of infection. They can't tell if it is viral or bacterial and in addition his oxygen saturations were low.

They hooked him up to an IV and pumped him full of antibotics today and he also received some more red blood cells. Today they ran a lung sweep in which they take a vacuum and sweep out your lungs. I certainly didn't know they could do this but I guess they can. They didn't feel that he was on the brink of pneumonia but they wanted to get an idea on the low oxygen saturations.

They have called in an Infectious Disease Specialist and they will be meeting with him sometime (hopefully) yet this week. They already had an MRI scheduled for Thursday evening so at this point that is still on schedule. I doubt that we will have any results back before mid week next week due to the holiday weekend. My son said that there is a chance that they were going to turn him loose yet this evening. They have run all of the tests except the MRI so they didn't think that they needed to keep him. He seems back to normal with no fever and the vomiting has subsided.

I am posting a picture that was taken about 4 hours prior to his being rushed to the hospital. It still amazes me how things change in such a short period of time. Thanks again for all of the well wishes and especially the prayers. It is comforting to know that so many wonderful people follow along on Andrew's journey. Hope to see many of you at sprint week.

Mike, you, Andrew and your family continue to have my support and prayers during Andrew's journey. Hope the little guy gets home from the hospital today and his MRI this week shows he is still marching forward with his journey. God Bless!

We pray everyday for Andrew and people just like him. It is things like this that put things into perspective as to how lucky we are.

racegal,

If you told me about the prayer chains I have forgotten that. Thank you very much for including Andrew in both of these. Also, I can certainly tell you that he DOESN'T get his good looks from his Grandpa!:O::doh:

I should also add that Andrew is back home as of last night. Tomorrow is the next MRI but I doubt that any results will be back until the middle of next week.

You are very welcome! I am sure there is alot of comfort in being in his own home! Please keep us posted!

As for where his good looks come from, I'll be the judge of that if we meet up during Sprint Week! I hope we will!

When we started this journey back in August of last year the prognosis didn't look very promising. The doctors said that he had less than a 10% chance to see his second birthday. Not exactly the odds we wanted to hear.

I told so many folks that we needed a miracle. From the very beginning I have been amazed at the number of people around the world who are praying for that miracle. So very many that we don't even know or will ever know. I thank everyone on the IOW board for their inspiration and prayers as Andrew can't have too many prayers. With that being said, there is a very large group that we can't thank because we don't even know that they are praying for him.

I try to read all of the posts on here and I really appreciate everyone who reads the updates. I know some folks don't write back and I realize that some find it difficult to even talk about. The comfort that you send our way is very much appreciated. Thanks for your continued interest in Andrew's journey.
