Hard to beleive it's been 3 years since his passing. Never
forget when I heard he was gone in 2010 in the am
prior to "Hulman Classic" A memory I'll never forget
at Oskaloosa is Hockett-Darland doing 360's in front
of grandstands after race. Both of them put on a great
race that day. Jesse was a true grass roots racer!
Best Regards,
John

It's hard for me to believe that he still hasn't got a nomination to be placed in the National Sprintcar Hall of Fame...I mean how many people have been nominated with nowhere near that many wins at twice Jesse's age...how many had that kind of versatility...how many were as much of a fan fave as Jesse?... How many people would even consider running from the back to 3rd against USAC at Eldora with a 360 motor at like 3AM after a rain delay, then get on the phone, work out a deal with Bob Ream, and end up in Manzanita the next day to win one of the final races on the old half mile?

I remember that night at Eldora. Jesse told me he was going to Manzy and I cussed him up one side and down the other. We were both laughing our a$$e$ off. I was so dang jealous he was going, and did he needle me for it. I still miss Manzy and Jesse.

He won the last sprint car race at Manzy that Sunday.Do I miss that guy.
