What a fun night at DuQuoin.

This race has the recipe for becoming one of the "thee" big midget races of the year.

POWRI really tried hard to stay ahead of the track and making sure there were multiple grooves.

The best thing about this "Battle at the Center" race is that it's perfect for someone who won't or can't attend the Chili Bowl.

Big names, a good but (not out of control) car count, a reasonable travel distance, fumes are minimal, and you don't have that huge, travel/hotel week long price tag. Not too mention taking that week off of work because you got sick from breathing dust, fumes, and cigarette smoke for 5 straight days and nights.

A $20 general admission ticket, a tank of gas, and food is just a under a $100 if making a 5 hour drive. That is reasonable for just about any regular working American.

From the outside looking in POWRI is a tight knit crew that strives to give to the fan and racer a fair shake.

POWRI is a professional series that has a real "Mom and Pop" warm feel. They welcome you, they shake your hand, and thank you for coming when you leave. I have been going to POWRI races since their series start and it seems every race has been ran with this sort of "we pride ourselves in running good midget shows" ethic.

It's a breath of fresh air and and at no time did I not feel welcome. POWRI kingpin Kenny Brown treats me with total respect and trusts me covering his series (media speaking).

That also goes for POWRI race director Jim Siner. Everytime we show up, it's a handshake, a smile, and a "it's great to see you."

The racers are great to work with too. Dereck King, Tim Siner, Andrew Felker, and many more are so excited and truly appreciative for our media efforts.

A lot of you fans out there know exactly what I'm talking about. There are some of you that travel to Illinois anytime POWRI races.

Good people and great racing.

I would love to see this race grow and sell out each year. I support POWRI and their efforts and looking forward to a fun 2013 season.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Your comments on the POWR I series are right on. They run the show like they know what they are doing.(and they do....) This is especially important for a race like the Battle at the Center. They took just enough time to rework the track when necessary. They had the lineups down to the pits and the cars lined up ready to go racing. AND THEY STARTED ON TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a wonderful show for a Christmas gift. Already looking forward to the 2013 schedule which Jim Childers said would be out this week.

And speaking of Jim, he does an excellent job of giving the lineups BEFORE the cars hit the track and are pushed off. You know ahead of time who is in what car racing for position. So many announcers could learn from him. He always comes prepared with additional information as well. Well informed and enjoyable to listen to as well.

Mike

Be nice to people on the way up. You might need them on the way down. Jimmy Durante

Its hard to say that is all when It wasn't all.

As I told Slash at the Center, I'd watch his coverage as well and I picked up things I didn't see in person as always, The interviews were great and Buck ask the right questions.

The place has a Killer sound system which was easily hearable over the cars. In fact I joked with a neighbor fan that the drivers are probably saying, Yeah, I know im in sixth The great thing is they didn't cheapen the racing a bit by playing music all over the place. I seen people with Ear Plugs/Muffs but this was one It didn't bother me a bit without em. I know the whole decibel thing and all but it wasn't ear ringing.

As Mudpacker said The Fumes were not bad at all, Two things here, I think the reworks helped in that and the green flag racing helped, I was up on the wall and while they were racing, You could feel a draft being created. Only once during one of the qualifiers did i start to tear up and nose start to burn, It quickly went away when they went green for a few laps. Third, It was warm, Mid to upper fiftys and the all the big back garage doors doors were all the way open

Jackslash.com is where its at. Like I said, I missed a ton of stuff but still, Its not the same as in person. The straight length wheelie Levi did in practice steering it with throttle and stagger was way cool and some of the sliders in person were just awesome.

Had a ball, Will enjoy reliving it with the coverage.

If Forest Lucas really does launch a cable station and shows all the stuff they cover in their entirety. Id never changed the channel.

Well I just watched the video and have a couple thoughts and a suggestion. I have the upmost respect for both drivers even though it looked like they were dancing rather than fighting, more of this and the rough driving would stop. As a wrestler myself Bryan you need to get a little lower and use your hips if you are going to go for the take down.

The clowns, thugs, punks, cowards whatever word you would like to use to describe the the two that jumped the driver and took him down with the one punching the driver is uncalled for and should not be tolerated.

I say leave the drivers alone and ban those two for the rest of this year and most of next year. J.M.O. Whatever crew they were from should also be fined for not keeping there dogs behind the scratch line.

The driver that was taken to the ground by these two should camp outside there house and fight them every day until he is satisfied with the results.

The actions by the people other than the drivers was not called for at all, I would hope the penalty will be swift and severe.

I am all for drivers settling the problems on the front stretch but when the mob shows up I will fear for my life and take the proper actions to protect myself.

I saw it as more of a protection stand point and not nothing like a mob action view, they were merely defending their driver and breaking up what had been started. It wasnt like it was a beating. That would be a different story altogether

Hey Jerry,

You might want to be careful about calling people out without having all of the background information.

Just maybe the crew, AKA "Mob" (and everything else you called them), are sick and tired of having to fix their car, and losing bonus pay. (yes the more money the driver makes the more bonus money they get)

Especially when the same driver keeps using them up like that over and over again.

I think what you saw was a few years of building frustration.

I understand your point Jerry, but based on history it was long over due....... JMO

Your right, it was about time someone put Clausen in his place. Bryan and his parents need to realize that he isnt god!
