For those of you from Indiana who have ventured to the West Coast for racing as a driver, owner, crew member or fan, you no doubt have come in contact or remember longtime official Evelyn Pratt and former driver & now So. Cal. Performance proprietor Steve Howard. Both have had a rough ride on the medical side of the ledger this year. If you have the time a Christmas card would certainly be a welcome addition. Their respective addresses are listed below. Thank you.

Evelyn Pratt, 4149 Eunice Ave., El Monte, Ca 91731

Steve Howard, 6607 Turnergrove lakewood, Ca 90713

To the best of my knowledge I never met Steve Howard, but I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to talk with Evelyn on a couple of my visits to the West. For those of you who don't know her, she was still working the pit microphone at Perris when she was in her 90s. Delightful person. I encourage everyone to send her a Christmas card (and Steve Howard also). Lets not forget those who gave so many years to the sport we love.

I believe Evelyn is 94. She was still running the pits for us at The PAS until she became ill in Aprtil or MJay ofr this year. In addition when not at the races, she had a lawn service and she was out mowing lawns as well. Quite a remarkable person and it is safe to say the most loved in Southern California Sprint Car racing.

We met Evelyn years ago when the CRA came to Terre Haute and Granite City.....very neat lady. Also have parts on my 40 Ford pickup from So-Cal boys.
Cards are in the mail.
Thanks Scott.

At last year's Oval Nationals, I recall watching her empty the trash cans around the pit board, and refusing help. Quite a person.

This is from Chris Holt:

Another "Hello" from Evelyn... the WRA Christmas party / 2012 Banquet was yesterday, Evelyn made it there, was in good spirits, still in pain from an infection she hasn't been able to overcome but stayed for the entire day. Someone got word to Jay Leno that she was there and he dropped what he was doing and showed up in a restored steam powered car that he was working on, came in for a while to say Hi and have his picture taken with her for his collection...it made her day. Her message is always the same, "God Bless you all, stay safe and she is thinking about every one of you" we buckled her into to her ride home, had a few laughs about her not having a helmet and her parting coment was that she would feel a litte safer wearing a Rickie Gaunt driving suit !! Send those cards, she really wants to hear from her racing family...she talked about making it to opening night this year at the PAS and started to cry, she wants to be there and is afraid the doctor won't let her go. A card from YOU would be a treasured moment, after 60+ years of her life dedicated to racing lets not let her down. Evelyn Pratt, 4149 Eunice Ave., El Monte, Ca 91731
