As most of you know, the wife and I have been expecting twins. For a while now Baby A has been on the smaller side and has a single umbilical artery (one blood vessel in the umbilical cord instead of two) At the last appointment 3 weeks ago, everything was looking good. the growth was still on track and everything else was good. At our appointment on thursday, it was seen that baby a's growth had fallen way off weighing in at 2lb 11 ounces while baby b was at 4lb 14 ounces, it was also noticed during the doppler of the umbilical cord that the blood flow for baby a was actually stopping in between heart beats, (it should continue to flow regularly) at this time the doctors decided to admit my wife and give her a pair of steroid shots to help increase lung development and blood flow. They also wanted to monitor the babies heart beats 24/7, we had another doppler completed on friday. this one showed that the blood flow was no longer stopping but was still meeting a lot of resistance. since then they are no longer monitoring the heartbeats 24/7. now it is just 3 times a day. The plan is to try and get her to 34 weeks or later (tuesday) before they deliver. we have another doppler scheduled for monday. So as long as there is no change between now and then we should be good. praying for a quiet weekend. I can keep you guys updated if you want.

just read your message on your twins. it brought goosebumps and tears to me and i had to write ya. me and my wife went thru something very similar two and a half years ago with our twins. they were mo mo twins. a little different but very scary as well. my wife spent three months in the hospital down at IU med center in indy. JUST KEEP THE FAITH and i'm thrilled to hear she is under doctor care. my identical twin girls are almost 2 1/2 and healthy as ever! it sounds like everything is going great! get those steroid shots in there and those little lungs working better and everything is going to be fine. we went at 32 weeks and they were small as ever but again, it went just as planned as so will yours.

Chris

Ours are Di - Di, my wife is 34 weeks today, we go back on Friday for another doppler as long as everything is still normal we get to stay at home. Hoping we make it to atleast 36 weeks. We are going to IU downtown as well. We have seen several doctors all over Indy, but we decided to deliver down there since it is right next to Riley if for some reason one or both need to go over there. It has been a wild ride so far. The doctors didn't think baby A was going to get better and figured they would have to be delivered. Praise God that everything has returned to normal.

Well had another appointment today, they took the weights today baby a had only gained 40 grams so the doctor decided it was best to deliver so we have now checked in to IU hospital downtown. Waiting to see if they will schedule a c-section tonight or tomorrow morning.
