Marco Simoncelli died from injuries in a crash at Sundays MotoGP race

He crashed and was hit by Colin Edwards. It knocked Simoncelli's helmet off. Feel really bad for Edwards

There are videos on YouTube but WARNING they are very very graphic

.

Find a purpose in life ..... Be a bad example

RIP, Marco. He rode it out to the very end, maybe thats what got him killed. There was talk that some of the top riders were trying to get him to seperate from his bike while crashing, Its a concious thing, do you ride it out or do you try to seperate ? I personally ride everything out till I'm done crashing. Marco crashed quite a bit, it's a shame it got him so early. He's a national hero in Italy. In Europe GP and Speedway racing is bigger then nascar and Indy combined here. The tracks are very safe in moto gp lots of runoff, in GP racing theres two ways to get killed, your bike gets you or you get hit. You can see he was killed instantly, and was gone before he stopped moving. p.s. the reason his leg was stuck under his bike was because they use there knee pucks to push the bike back towards uprite, I'm sure for half the crash he was sure he was gonna save it. They're hero's in europe for a reason. bummer

He said that was an other type of racing that he did not have the balls to try. RIP Marco. Some times its safer to hang on to the bike. If you are not with the bike it can follow the ride and land on them.

yep its a decision, I'm not second guessing a great rider but if he would of kicked the bike away the instant he lost the front end odds are he would have just slide into gravel, everyonce in awhile your knee puck gets caught under the bike and it wont budge. The idea is to get the bike sliding in front of you by kicking it away. I've done it lots. Like on a speedwaybike, if you think you have a chance of bouncing off the wall You blast the throttle wide open and hopefully dont get sucked into the wall when you bounce off with your rear wheel. If your off the throttle I promise you grief and pain. If however you know your going in head or back first you try to get off the bike on the lowside and use the bike to loosen up the wall some, before you follow it in. I know Marco was spoke to before this race just about this. Once you use the knee puck to push up your totally committed. Them bikes is scary, and you havent lived if you aint had to eject off a mx bike over a big set of triples or blast the throttle when you know your rear wheel is gonna smack the wall, you usually have a few seconds to pondor the outcome before hand.
