During the Cardinal game the other night, MOWA had a real nice commercial promoting the series. It had a lot of good action video and basically said "If you missed us this year, this is what you missed, come check us out next year". This was great marketing, and I hope it works out for them. I caught a couple of their shows this year, and they were very good. They are well run and fan friendly. There is a good group of local drivers and some more nationally known names like Danny Lasoski, Brian Brown, Terry McCarl, and Danny Smith that drop in to compete. Congrats to MOWA on a good year, I hope next year is even better.
I liked what MOWA was doing this year. They had a lot of fan involvement and more importantly involved the kids with driver autographs and giveaways. Ross Wece (SP?) did a lot of good videos promoting the series. One thing that I really liked was when they scheduled a race, they made sure they enough drivers going so it was worth it for the track and fans. It was nice not having to leave the state to see good sprint car racing this year.
Thanks. We are going to be hitting the TV occasionally throughout the winter trying to introduce (or re-introduce) sprint car racing to potential fans and sponsors in our core geographic market. You can explain how cool sprint car racing is to a potential fan or sponsor for hours and not have near the success as if they see it for themselves.
The new fans we need at the race track arent spending their time here on IOW, our website, facebook or youtube page. The new fans are either old fans who got away or young fans who have never been exposed. By putting an ad in the middle of a baseball playoff game, supercross race, NASCAR race, MMA match etc we force them to see what they are missing, and hopefully over the course of the winter get them familiar with our sport and drivers. Then when we come at them next summer with advertising telling them we are racing just down the street from them, they might be familiar enough with who and what we are to take the plunge to come watch.
Who knows if it will work. But we are glad you noticed.
