For years the track was always listed as Granite City, Illinois and now it is listed as Pontoon Beach, Illinois. Does anyone know when and why it changed and is now listed as Pontoon Beach?...just wondering?

I asked a local guy I see every year who helps with videotaping the weekly races. We were standing in the pits beyond turns 3-4 and he said we were standing in Pontoon Beach. He said the front of the property on the turn 1-2 side is Granite City. I guess that explains how it could change, but not why.

I think the city of Pontoon Beach annexed it a few years ago. It'll always be Granite City to me.

Address is listed as Pontoon Beach so that is what it is.

While we're on the subject, what are the 3 cities for which the track is named? I assume that Pontoon Beach and Granite City are two of them?

I always thought it was named after St.Louis, East St.Louis and Granite City.

Mitchell

Would be my guess since it sits close to all three

As a kid growing up in the area, the speedway was known as Tri City Speedway, Granite City, IL. I believe that if you travel around you can go across a street from Granite City to Madison to Venice. I always thought that is where the name Tri City came from. Where is Morty? If anyone knows, he would.

I know in my area, the street your front door faces is your address. And didn't the Gundackers re-do the track a couple years ago. If so, and if they changed the location of the front door so to speak, that would/could change the address...
