For years the track was always listed as Granite City, Illinois and now it is listed as Pontoon Beach, Illinois. Does anyone know when and why it changed and is now listed as Pontoon Beach?...just wondering?
I asked a local guy I see every year who helps with videotaping the weekly races. We were standing in the pits beyond turns 3-4 and he said we were standing in Pontoon Beach. He said the front of the property on the turn 1-2 side is Granite City. I guess that explains how it could change, but not why.

Would be my guess since it sits close to all three Posted via Mobile Device
As a kid growing up in the area, the speedway was known as Tri City Speedway, Granite City, IL. I believe that if you travel around you can go across a street from Granite City to Madison to Venice. I always thought that is where the name Tri City came from. Where is Morty? If anyone knows, he would.

Be nice to people on the way up. You might need them on the way down. Jimmy Durante
I know in my area, the street your front door faces is your address. And didn't the Gundackers re-do the track a couple years ago. If so, and if they changed the location of the front door so to speak, that would/could change the address...
