CLERMONT, Ind. — Due to the unseasonably cool temperatures and the unfavorable forecast for Thursday, both Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis and USAC officials have canceled the Thursday Night Thunder Sprint Car race scheduled for Thursday night.

“We felt it in the best interest of our fans to cancel the event now and save them the cost of traveling to the event and it being canceled the day of,” said Wes Collier, general manager of Lucas Oil Raceway. “We look forward to the return of the USAC Sprint Car Series later this Fall and the remainder of the season.”

The next scheduled Thursday Night Thunder will return to the Lucas Oil Raceway oval Sept. 22.

Hate it, but it's the right call. It's probably going to piss rain off and on all day tomorrow. Plus, the car and fan count wasn't great last time out with good weather so I can't blame them for not wanting to take the risk.
