I was wondering if there had been any announcement on Terre Haute yet. I know there has been a lot of rumor and guessing, but is there anything definitive?

Just wondering.

USAC schedule has the following dates.

Regular 410's.
May 26th (weekday)
July 13th (Sprint Week) (weekday)
Sept. 10th (Saturday)

Silver Crown
July 3rd (Sunday race, wow)

There is no MSCS race yet, as previously talked about.

From what was said, but not comfirmed. USAC is promoting it and Tommy from Tri State is doing track prep.

Now if these events happen, who knows.

Personal opinion, the track deserves a few more races. Tommy doing track prep should make the surface good. I just hope that what I been hearing as rumors isn't true. I have heard the fair board keeps raising rent on the circle and drag tracks to make the grounds lose money (they supposedly have done the same thing to the Schied guys with the diesel event) for a few years to get it to be sold for commercial development.

The really sad part about the possible attitude of the fair board is this; With all the vacant property on 41, and the dead real estate market, are they crazy thinking they'd make money on the fairground sale ?

No kidding. There is four empty stores just directly south of the fair grounds. In one section of the mall, instead of having empty stores shown, they just put up a decorative wall. With the 641 bypass going up, there will be less traffic passing there also. I believe there is a few empty store fronts in the strip mall south of the mall also. It reminds me of what happened in Houston. Six Flags Astroworld was a pretty busy theme park. in 2005, the CEO then demolished the property saying it was more valuable then the theme park. Took out the whole park, and leveled the land. It sat like that for sale years before someone finally bought it.

You would think whomever is running or promoting Terre Haute would make some kind of announcement...especially since the first race is only 6 weeks from tomorrow night....paging Spridge.

USAC is also promoting the races at Dodge City, Kan., and juist recently announced Tommie Estes Jr., as the promoter.
One might be surprised at how many of these big events are actually put on by the sanctioning body, rather than the racetrack itself. I know of one instance out here, a late model track, where the sanction, was trying to get the track to take over the race because it was losing money.
