I have always heard the name for the eldora speedway was a name of a cow in the area before the speedway was built. Has anyone every heard how the speedway got its name ?
When Earl bought the ballroom he was going to have a contest to name it. Couple of days before picking a name he found a old wooden board with the name Eldora painted on it in the back of the ballroom building. The ballroom at the time was called Shoes after the owner. Earl asked the prior owner about the sign and was told that Eldora was the original name of the ballroom so Earl decided to use that name for the ballroom and then he kept the name for the speedway.
