The scenes are from the 1950 film, To Please a Lady, starring Clark Gable and Barbara Stanwyck.

I have a VHS of To PLEASE a Lady. There is a lot of good race footage in the film, which actually isn't too bad of a movie. I've also watched The Big Wheel, which starred Mickey Rooney, who most folks alive today have never heard of. Some good race footage, but not that great of a film.

Here's another clip from To Please a Lady

Gable attended the race for several years. At one point, he was photographed watching the start of the race from Tony Hulman's private box in turn one.

So, wonder where Days of Thunder got their ideas?
