Well it appears from all the status updates on the Speedrome Facebook page that they appear to be gearing up for some welcome upgrades to the track. Just from their updates looks like new Bathrooms, New Bleachers and a New Scoreboard. Guess we will just have to wait and see what all they upgrade. All I can say is its about time. Went to the 3 hour this year and you could tell they haven't touched the place in years.
I agree speedrome needs some updates! It is exciting to hear that when I go to the 3 hour next year I won't have to use a port-o-potty or wade through ankle deep "water"
That was a fear that the whole place was going 'six feet under'. The Speedrome has been pavement for years. I can vouch for that back to the late 70s.
It'd be a neat little joint on dirt, but it's a pretty neat little joint the way it is. I hope the National Midget date goes great next summer. Posted via Mobile Device
The Indianapolis Speedrome was an original dirt surface when it was built. It is also one of the very few race tracks that was allowed to run a race during WWII citing a morale booster. In July ( I think) of 1942 the mighty midgets ran and again I must guess but I think the winner was Duke Nalon.
