UMRA Rolls Into Columbus on Friday
By Alex Wollf
The 50th anniversary season of the Dutch Mill Buffet UMRA TQ Midgets continues with another fair race on Friday night. This time the setting will be the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds in Columbus. Ron Combs will be looking to make it a clean sweep of fair races in the 2010 season as he won both races during the Rush County Fair in late June and last Friday night visited victory lane during the Decatur County Fair in his hometown of Greensburg.
Combs and the other UMRA drivers will have to contend with Brandon Gray who last Saturday night at the Brownstown Speedway finally grabbed the brass ring of a feature win after several runner-up finishes. Now that he has broken through the glass ceiling, Gray will look to make it two in a row in Columbus.
There will also be a pair of contingency awards that drivers will be chasing on Friday night. The “Tony Stewart Rookie Challenge” will see the highest finishing rookie take home $50. Five gallons of fuel will be on the line with G&G Oil “Hard Charger of the Race” that goes to the driver who advances the most positions in the feature event. The youngsters will want to have their parents bring them to the races on Friday night as one lucky young fan will leave Columbus with a brand new kid’s bike.
The first ten races of the 2010 Dutch Mill Buffet UMRA TQ Midget season have featured action-packed, edge of your seat excitement and round eleven in Columbus on Friday night should be no exception. Gates open at 3:30 PM, practice is at 6, and racing is scheduled to begin at 7!

Was great to hear Brandon won his first last weekend. This is an old time county fair track with the midway lit up behind the main grandstands and the smells of the fair in the air.
