The 2007 schedule saw 14 events of which 9 were pavement.
The 2008 schedule ..... 11 events.............5 only on pavement.

Pavement venues lost for '08 include -
Homestead - Miami
Chicagoland ( Joliet )
New Hampshire Speedway
Kansas Speedway

The only new "pickup" to the schedule is on the dirt side with Terre Haute. I'm sure this deal was closed in the time it took to smoke a cigarette !

Interestingly , 3 of those 4 are ISC or NASCAR controlled tracks ;( *see nascar involvement in new generation SC ) the exception being Bruton's New Hampshire.

Uglyness aside , it was difficult to market the New Generation car before ; no incentive exists to buy one now for only 5 races on pavement. This is a problem in '08 that will impact the series in '09 to be seen in car count , as in "lack of ".

The new USAC team has got their work cut out for them in Silver Crown !

Is the main problem with these cars, the cost of the cars, the added cost of travel or just a general Lack of Interest? Would these cars ever draw a fan base and crowd for stand alone shows? I;m just speaking about the Pavement Cars. I just have never seen or heard anyone sound too excited by them. It will be hard to build a series that dozent have Cars or Race Tracks... I;m not trying to be critical, I know the new car was ment to create more interest as well as be a platform for drivers to gain more experiance on the pavement, but with so few cars, would it not be smarter to go to shorter tracks? Same thing for the Dirt side, how can you build a new fan base when the fans only see these cars once or twice a year. How many Fans actually follow all of the Silver Crown Dirt Races? I know it may not be a popular move, but I;d take these cars to some shorter tracks. Get the cost down and run a few races with some Wing Shows, those tracks should be well suited to the cars...My point is that these shows are expensive, and the fans base seems to be at retirement age plus 5. There are exceptions, but not enough. Get the cars back in front of what new fans you can. Terre Haute should be a Great Place to do that, with the cars pitted in the infield... Drag out every new face you can.......

I would like to see in a couple years the dirt tracks they have now at least run them twice a year and also to see them run a lot more dirt 1/2 miles that would make a good series.

I would say either that or he masterfully assumed something amiss. He did have a perfect out- putting his money in the pro series and focusing more on indy and open wheel.

I would like to see the big cars run orp this summer 2 or 3 times. I have stopped short of talking with the stock car promoter there about adding them to his regular show a few times, something small to keep them alive until 2009 comes around. :prafan:

Inside Info? It does not take that kind of information or intuition to realize the demise of such a drastic mistake. I think the casual observer saw this right from the get go. Sorry for those who spent big dollars because of NASCRAP HYPE but things happen. Anybody see USAC pimping the REAL COPPER WORLD? not much. Manzy was all over the place pimping this event.

Oh man two races at Springfield and DuQuoin a year? That would be too good to be true

Why not run the dirt 5/8 at Bridgeport or West Virginia Motor Speedway? Bridgeport is pretty far but WVMS is right across the border from Ohio, only runs a couple of shows a year, and exposes some new fans while possibly drawing some Indiana/Ohio people over.

The problem is the increased purse they are paying for the SC over the Sprint cars when the average fan does not know the history or the difference between the two.

Just look at how many media members have problems with the difference between sprints and midgets and these are racing journalists and motorsports PR personal, not someone who only goes to one or two races a year
