I saw that to and I am bummed. I missed last year for my sons graduation, but had been there the 3 years prior. It was the only time I got to see them live.

Once again, making posts to flame USAC with some false sense of hope for other midget clubs. So tell me - how many cars would have showed up if it was still a non-USAC show? Shoot, Badger used to take more cars to Knoxville than even exist in that club now.
One thing that didn't help the event was the horrific condition of the track in 2009. It was obvious that there was no interest in the race, and there was never much of a crowd for the midget race (even without the horrible USAC being involved). Of course, it never really paid worth anything, either, for the type of strain a track like Knoxville puts on midgets. It was doomed...
On the other hand, the excitement around the sprint car race last year before the rain came was very promising!! That is one race I'll be looking forward to...

The midgets, sanctione by USAC or any other group, have been replaced with three nights of the World of Outlaws Sprint Series.
As far as horrible track conditions, I didn't think they were that bad. Have definitely seen a lot worse.
Simple fact is that there were only 22 midgets signed it. I believe that's the same number USAC guaranteed Terre Haute for the Hut 100. Why would the folks at Knoxville believe they would see any more midgets this year under the existing circumstances?
Add into that the death of Chad McDaniel and a poor groundstand crowd, could you really expect another decision?
